The Music Service has had the privilege of working with many accomplished young musicians from Luton over the years. We asked some of them to share with you their experience learning and playing music and how it has helped them in their careers.
Timothy Ridout – international Violist
What did you study with Luton Music Service?
With LMS I studied Singing and Viola.
What were your highlights?
There were many highlights of my time with LMS. I was part of Youth Choir since I was really quite small, and it was a big part of my formative musical education, and later on I had a wonderful time in Youth Orchestra and also at Saturday morning music school. Experiencing music in these ensembles was so much fun, and really gave me motivation to practice!
Where has music taken you?
After studying at the Royal Academy of Music, my musical journey has already taken me all over the world. I’ve been lucky to meet and collaborate with many great musicians and perform in amazing concert halls! Just over the past few months I’ve played concerts in Japan, USA, and all across Europe.
What advice would you give our students?
My advice to a young musician would be to enjoy yourself, play the music that you love, and practice! Also aim for the best – nothing is too difficult if you’re willing to put in the hours!
